Ten Inning 4-3 Win for West Virginia

The Rome Braves (14-25) fell to the West Virginia Power (19-20) in extra innings on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3.

The Braves struck in the first inning on a run scoring ground out by Johan Camargo for the 1-0 lead. West Virginia tied the game in the fifth on an RBI triple by Wyatt Mathisen. Rome regained the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Connor Lien. The 2-1 score would hold into the ninth when the Power rallied with two runs. Austin Meadows reached on a single and later would score on a throwing error to tie the game. Mathisen added an RBI groundout giving the Power the 3-2 lead. The Braves tied the contest in the bottom of the ninth with a two out solo shot by Jake Schrader (8) to send the game into extra innings.

West Virginia took the lead in the tenth. JaCoby Jones reached on a fielder's choice, went to third on a single by Meadows, and crossed the plate on an RBI single by Maximo Rivera giving the Power a 4-3 lead. The West Virginia bullpen shutdown Rome in the bottom of the inning holding on for the final 4-3 victory.

Brett McKinney (3-3) gets the win while Matt Sims (0-1) is charged with the loss.

Rome travels to Greenville for a four game series that starts Thursday and then head to Lexington for a three game set before returning home for a four game series against Charleston on August 7th.
