UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Charlotte first baseman Andy Wilkins, who won back-to-back International League Batter of the Week honors last month, is being rewarded again by the International League. Wilkins, who hit .419 with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs over 26 games in July, was named as the International League's Player of the Month for July, as announced by the International League of Professional Baseball Clubs, Inc. earlier today.

The Tulsa, OK native led the IL in home runs (12), RBIs (31), hits (44), extra-base hits (21), and a .857 slugging percentage in July. He also ranked second in batting average (.419), and runs scored (24). The 25-year-old Knights slugger had a torrid nine-game stretch following the All-Star Break. Wilkins hit .564 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs over the first nine games back from Durham. His hot-hitting helped lead the Knights to an 8-1 record over that nine-game period.

For the season, the University of Arkansas product is hitting .285 (111-for-389) with 60 runs scored, 26 doubles, one triple, 26 home runs, and 70 RBIs in 100 games with the Knights. He leads the IL in home runs (26), RBIs (70), total bases (217), and extra base hits (53). The Charlotte slugger is second in the IL in slugging percentage (.558) and has hit a home run once every 14.96 at-bats, which is also tops in the IL. His 26 home runs this season are a new single-season career high.
