GRAND CHUTE, WI - Sunday's game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Peoria Chiefs was suspended with the score tied 1-1 after nine innings. The game will be picked up in the top of the tenth inning on Thursday when the Timber Rattlers begin a series against the Chiefs at Dozer Park in Peoria.

Peoria (59-51 overall, 22-19 second half) got their first hit of the game with a two-out single by Justin Ringo in the fourth inning. Ronald Castillo followed with an infield single and Rattlers starter Javier Salas hit Rowan Wick to load the bases. Salas jammed Cesar Valera, who hit a slow dribbler to short. Valera just beat the throw for an infield single to score Ringo for a 1-0 lead.

That was the only run allowed by Salas, who was making his Midwest League debut in the start. The tenth round pick of the Brewers from the University of Miami in the 2014 draft allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out four.

The Rattlers (59-51, 23-18) put together their own two-out rally in the sixth inning. Taylor Brennan reached on an error and Clint Coulter followed with a single to put runners on the corners. David Denson was next and he singled to left to drive in Brennan with the tying run.

Peoria starting pitcher Arturo Reyes struck out ten Rattlers over seven innings, but ran into trouble in the eighth. Johnny Davis singled to start the inning and Omar Garcia bunted Davis into scoring position and that was all for Reyes.

Kyle Barraclough took over on the mound for the Chiefs and got out of the inning when Davis was thrown out trying to steal third and Brennan struck out.

Neither team could score in the ninth before an intense downpour caused play to be stopped. The decision to suspend the game was made 45 minutes later as the rain continued to fall.

The game will be picked up on Thursday in the top of the tenth inning with Peoria at the plate and the score tied 1-1. The time of the restart on Thursday is to be determined and should be announced on Monday.

Speaking of Monday, the Timber Rattlers begin a road trip on tomorrow night with a game against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Perfect Game Field. Zach Quintana (3-5, 5.61) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The Kernels plan to send Lewis Thorpe (2-2, 4.74) to the mound. Game time is 6:35pm. Tune in for the broadcast on AM1280, WNAM or IHeartRadio starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15pm.
