08/10/2014 6:28 PM ET

NEED TO KNOW: After a fast start Sunday afternoon, the Albuquerque Isotopes (55-67) dropped a 7-5 decision to the Las Vegas 51s (69-54) at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, NV.

DECIDING MOMENT: The Isotopes started off quickly with a pair of runs in the first inning courtesy of an RBI-single from Brock Peterson and RBI-groundout from Jamie Romak. Topes starting pitcher Matt Magill tossed three innings of hitless ball, but after he gave way to the bullpen, the 51s posted a six-run fifth inning. Las Vegas used three doubles, three singles and a home run from Taylor Teagarden to take control of the game. After the 51s tacked on another run in the sixth, Peterson would again single in a run in the eighth, and Albuquerque loaded the bases with one out in the ninth. Johnny Monell scored on a wild pitch, and Carlos Triunfel crossed on a sacrifice fly from Joc Pederson. With the tying run on first, a strikeout ended Albuquerque's rally.

PETERSON NOT PEDERSON: Brock Peterson notched an RBI double in the first and an RBI single in the eighth to drive in two of Albuquerque five runs Sunday afternoon. He finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Since joining the Isotopes on July 2, Peterson is batting .369 (45-for-122) with 26 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple, six homers and 28 RBI.

RAKING ROMAK: Jamie Romak drove in another run Sunday afternoon with an RBI groundout. Since the Dodgers outrighted him to the Minors in late June, Romak has 38 RBI in 40 games to along with eight homers, one triple and 11 doubles.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and 51s will play the finale of their five-game series Monday night at 8:05 p.m. MT. Right-handed pitcher Zach Lee (6-10, 5.26 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill for Albuquerque, while Las Vegas will go with righty Rafael Montero (6-3, 3.28 ERA).
