Jason Martinson's 4-for-4 day led Harrisburg Senators to a three-run lead early, but the Senators could not hold on as the Portland Sea Dogs came back to win 5-4 on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park.
In the first inning, Cutter Dykstra and Matt Skole singled with two outs. Kevin Keyes followed with a four-pitch walk to load the bases and begin Martinson's big day. The Senators' shortstop lined a shot that just cleared the right field fence for a grand slam to afford the Senators a 4-1 lead. Martinson then singled in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings to complete his first four-hit game of the season. Drew Vettleson and Skole both reached twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk each.
Austin Voth allowed a two-run home run in the fourth inning to Portland's Stefan Welch, which cut Harrisburg's lead to 4-3. It was also the last batter Voth faced as he went three innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Paul Demny entered the game and allowed a runner to reach third base with one out, but Ricky Hague caught a fly ball and nailed the runner at home to maintain Harrisburg's lead. However, Demny allowed a solo homer in the sixth that tied the game. Then in the eighth, Neil Holland allowed a solo dinger of his own that proved to be the game-winner for Portland. Derek Self pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
