Cutters shutout by Auburn in season series finale
The Crosscutters were shutout 8-0 by the Doubledays Sunday night at Falcon Park in Auburn, New York to conclude the season series.
Auburn wins the season series (6-4).
Emmanuel Marrero had two of the Cutters seven hits on the night.
Mitch Gueller (5-5) had his worst outing of the year allowing seven runs in 2.2 innings of work, his road woes continued (1-5) with a 9.23 ERA.
Cutters relievers Ricky Bielski, Mark Meadors, Manny Martinez and Bryan Sova combined for 4.1 innings of work allowing two hits, a walk and four strikeouts.
With the loss and a Brooklyn win, the Cutters (31-37) elimination number for the wild card dropped to two. Which means a Cutters loss and Brooklyn win on the same day eliminates the Cutters from post season contention.
The Cutters begin a 2-game series tomorrow in Batavia, New York at 7:05 p.m. before heading to State College on Wednesday for a brief 2-game series.
The Cutters return home on Friday, August 29, 2014 to battle Jamestown at 7:05 p.m. to begin the final home stand of the season.
