Cutters shutout by Batavia in series opener

The Crosscutters were shutout 3-0 by the Muckdogs Monday night at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, New York.

Batavia now leads the season series (5-4).

Offensively, the Cutters are in the midst of a 19 consecutive scoreless innings streak. Chase Harris went 2 for 4 and the Cutters did not have an extra base hit in the game.

Reliever Edubray Ramos pitched three scoreless innings for the Cutters allowing three hits and three strikeouts.

Brandon Leibrandt (2-3) scattered eleven hits and three runs in five innings of work.

With the loss the Cutters (31-38) elimination number for the wild card dropped to one. Staten Island defeated Brooklyn 2-1 in ten innings on a Chris Breen walk-off solo homer. The next Cutters loss or Brooklyn win the Cutters will be eliminated from post season contention.

The Cutters conclude their 2-game series with Batavia tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. before heading to State College on Wednesday for a brief 2-game series.

The Cutters return home on Friday, August 29, 2014 to battle Jamestown at 7:05 p.m. to begin the final home stand of the season.

Cutters Carvings: Reliever Edubray Ramos pitched three scoreless innings for the Cutters allowing three hits and three strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 1.02 on the season…The Cutters must go 6-0 to finish with the same record as last year, (37-38)…It will be the third consecutive non-winning season for the Cutters (37-38, 2013), (30-46, 2012) who have not finished above .500 since going (43-33, 2011) when they just missed the playoffs finishing two games back in the wild card…
