Baby Bombers suffer loss to Cyclones, 8-2
08/26/2014 10:33 PM ET

After winning Monday night's game in dramatic fashion, the Brooklyn Cyclones (39-31) made things less thrilling, dominating the Staten Island Yankees (35-34), 8-2.

The Cyclones blew the game open in the top of the third inning off Staten Island starter Jordan Cote. Michael Bernal kick-started the Brooklyn offense with an infield single fielded by a diving Jose Javier at shortstop, followed by a single off the bat of Tucker Tharp. Alfredo Reyes brought in the first run of the game with a single to center that plated Bernal. Tharp then scored on a ground out to shortstop by Adrian Abreu. Amed Rosario continued the inning for the Cyclones with a single to center field, plating Reyes. Jhoan Urena and Pedro Perez each collected singles that brought home runs, giving Brooklyn five runs in the inning.

Staten Island was able to get on the board in the fourth inning. Connor Spencer knocked a double to right field, followed by another double from Ty McFarland to get the first run across for the Baby Bombers.

Brooklyn answered right back in the fifth inning, extending their original lead. Michael Conforto singled to left field, then scored on a Urena triple to left. Urena came home to score later in the inning as Tyler Moore reached on an error by Javier at shortstop, giving the Cyclones a 7-1 lead.

The bats for both teams remained quiet until the eighth inning. Brooklyn broke the momentary silence as Reyes singled to right field, then scored as Abreu reached on Javier's second error of the game.

The Baby Bombers made some noise in the bottom half of the eighth, but it was not enough. Devyn Bolasky drew a walk, then scored as Spencer and Monday night's hero Chris Breen both singled to bring home the second run of the game, giving the final score of 8-2.
