Cutters shutout by Spikes, again

August 28, 2014

The Crosscutters (32-40) were shutout for the twelfth time this season in State College Thursday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park 1-0.

It was the fifth time in the last seven games the Cutters have been shutout.

Starting pitcher Ricardo Pinto (1-5) went seven innings and allowed a solo homer to Brian O'Keefe in the fifth inning for the lone run in the game. Pinto matched a season high with nine strikeouts and allowed just three hits and three walks.

Jiandido Tromp, Derek Campbell, Wilson Garcia and Joes Pujols each had a hit for the Cutters in the loss.

The Cutters now trail the season series (8-2) with State College. With the win the Spikes edge in front of the all-time series 54-52.

The Crosscutters have played 45 of their last 49 innings as scoreless.

The Cutters return home tomorrow Friday, August 29, 2014 to battle Jamestown at 7:05 p.m. to begin the final 4-game home stand of the season.

The 2-game series against Jamestown has become historic in nature since it was announced earlier this week by the New York Penn League that the Jammers franchise will be moving to Morgantown, West Virginia to begin play in 2015. So it will be the last time the "Jamestown Jammers" will make an appearance at Susquehanna Bank Park at Historic Bowman Field.
