Legends take home Golden Bobblehead

October 3, 2014

The Lexington Legends have won a Golden Bobblehead Award, which recognizes the best promotions in Minor League Baseball.

The Legends won in the category of Best Non-Gameday Event for Red, White & Boom, a concert held annually at Whitaker Bank Ballpark close to Independence Day. The 2014 event, which took place July 5 and 6 in partnership with Clear Channel Radio (now IHeart Media), drew 30,000 people to the ballpark for two days of live music, including performances by Lee Brice, Kentucky's own Sundy Best and many other acts.

Other finalists in the Non-Gameday Event category included the Arkansas Travelers, Golden Ticket Baseball Search; Brooklyn Cyclones, Education Through Baseball; Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Electric City Brewfest; and Toledo Mud Hens, World Cup Viewing Party.

Winners were announced Thursday night at the 2014 Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar in Oklahoma City.

The 2015 Red, White & Boom event is set for June 26 and 27.
