Offensive Players of the Week

Here's a look at the top offensive performers in each league for the week ending May 10:

International League
Brian Bogusevic, Lehigh Valley
(.423/.483/.692, 6 G, 11-for-26, 4 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 9 R, 3 BB, 3 K)
Bogusevic's week was highlighted by a 4-for-6 outburst at Louisville on May 5. Among those four hits was the 31-year-old's second home run of the season, and he also plated four runs. The 2005 first-rounder (24th overall) has a .336 average and .870 OPS through 27 games with the IronPigs. Bogusevic has played in 299 Major League games, compiling a .236 average with 17 homers and 22 stolen bases.

Pacific Coast League
Cody Decker, El Paso
(.393/.393/.893, 6 G, 11-for-28, 2 2B, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 6 R, 0 BB, 6 K)
Everybody's favorite Minor League filmmaker can also do some damage at the plate, evidenced by a 4-for-5, two-homer, six-RBI performance at Fresno on May 8. Decker cracked four homers in four games during last week's hot streak, giving him six long balls on the season. The UCLA product is hitting .272 with a .921 OPS through 27 games. After experimenting with catching the past two seasons, Decker has only played first and third base so far in 2015.

Eastern League
Art Charles, Reading
(.632/.667/1.474, 5 G, 12-for-19, 4 2B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 7 R, 2 BB, 3 K)
The 24-year-old quietly cracked 19 home runs in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League last year. This season, he's doing even more damage in Double-A. Charles now has five homers and a whopping .800 slugging percentage through 19 games. He's also batting .400 and has added nine doubles, giving him a 1.242 OPS. Charles was a 20th-round pick out of Bakersfield Community College in 2010 by the Blue Jays and has been in the Phillies' organization since 2013.

Southern League
Tyler Smith, Jackson
(.455/.571/.773, 6 G, 10-for-22, 4 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R, 5 BB, 4 K)
Seattle has done well drafting college middle infielders in recent years, churning out Major Leaguers like Brad Miller and Chris Taylor. Smith, a 2013 eight-rounder, wants to join that duo in the Majors, and he's hitting enough to make that a possibility. The 23-year-old is batting .315 with more walks than strikeouts through 17 Double-A games. Smith hit .284 with 10 homers in 128 games last year, mostly in the Class A Advanced California League. The Generals' lead-off hitter jacked his one home run May 9, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs against Chattanooga.

Texas League
Carlos Correa, Corpus Christi
(.429/.484/.821, 7 G, 12-for-28, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 4 R, 3 BB, 6 K, 5 SB)
Correa is the top infield prospect remaining in the Minor Leagues, checking in at No. 3 on MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list. He's performed like it, too. Last week's onslaught raised his batting average to .385, and he's also hit seven homers and gone 15-for-15 on stolen-base attempts, encroaching on his career high of 20 set in 62 games last season. Correa leads the Texas League in average, steals, slugging percentage (.726), RBI (32), total bases (85), doubles (15) and hits (45), and he's also tied for the league lead in homers.

California League
A.J. Reed, Lancaster
(.385/.500/1.000, 7 G, 10-for-26, 4 2B, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 9 R, 6 BB, 6 K)
A two-way standout at Kentucky, Reed is focusing strictly on being a position player for the first time in 2015. After a slow start, the 240-pound first baseman rounded his offensive game into shape this week, highlighted by a three-homer, nine-RBI game on May 6. The 2014 second-rounder has eight homers and a .966 OPS in 30 games with the JetHawks. Over 98 career Minor League games, Reed has 20 homers and a .282 average.

Carolina League
Billy McKinney, Myrtle Beach
(.433/.550/.800, 9 G, 13-for-30, 4 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 12 RBI, 9 R, 8 BB, 2 K, 1 CS)
McKinney's lone homer last week was a big one, giving the Pelicans a walk-off win over Salem on May 7. The 20-year-old also drew four walks in that game and added five multi-hit efforts to his tab last week. Acquired along with Addison Russell from Oakland in the Jeff Samardzija deal last year, McKinney is batting .333 with four homers and a .433 on-base percentage, drawing more walks than strikeouts through 28 Class A Advanced games.

Florida State League
Austin Dean, Jupiter
(.478/.480/.739, 6 G, 11-for-23, 4 2B, 1 3B, 8 RBI, 6 R, 1 BB, 4 K)
The Miami outfielder turned in a pair of three-hit games and two more two-hit outings last week, lifting his average from .263 to .305 for the season. Dean was a fourth-round pick in 2012 out of a Texas high school and emerged as an offensive threat in 2014 with Class A Greensboro, where he hit .308 with nine homers. The 21-year-old is the No. 10 prospect in Miami's farm system, earning plaudits for his "very quick swing, a mature approach and a knack for putting the barrel on the ball."

Midwest League
Max Murphy, Cedar Rapids
(.400/.464/.680, 6 G, 10-for-25, 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 9 R, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 SB)
The 2014 ninth-round pick obliterated Rookie-level pitching last year, hitting 10 home runs in 35 games with Elizabethton in his first pro assignment. He slowed down after a promotion to Cedar Rapids last year and had been largely stymied by Class A pitching until this week, when he collected four extra-base hits. In 26 games this year, the Bradley University product is batting .250 with home homer and a .684 OPS.

South Atlantic League
Ozhaino Albies, Rome
(.429/.484/.643, 6 G, 12-for-28, 2 2B, 2 3B, 7 RBI, 7 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 4 SB)
The 18-year-old is among the youngest players in the full-season Minor Leagues, but that hasn't kept him from being an impactful player for the R-Braves. The Curacao native is hitting .314 with seven extra-base hits and 11 stolen bases. Atlanta's No. 7 prospect gets rave reviews for his defense and has drawn Jimmy Rollins comparisons from multiple Braves front-office officials. Albies is looking like he'll eventually follow fellow Curacaoan Andrelton Simmons to a Major League career in the middle infield.
