Offense highlights Bees' win over Whitecaps

Bees score 11 runs on 16 hits in game one win

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees scored five runs in the third inning, on their way to a 11-5 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps, in game one of a double header, Sunday afternoon at Community Field.

Wade Wass put the Bees on top in the bottom of the second inning, clubbing his second home run of the season, a solo shot to right field, giving the Bees' a 1-0 lead. The next hitter, Ryna Seiz singled, and then came home to score on a Michael Hermosillo single, upping the Bees' lead to 2-0.

After West Michigan came back to tie the game at two, the Bees sent nine hitters to the plate in the bottom of the third. Natanael Delgado led off the frame with a solo home run to right, his fourth of the season, giving the Bees the lead back at 3-2. Caleb Adams tripled to right and came home to score on a Wade Wass single, doubling the Bees' lead at 4-2. Erick Salcedo added another run, doubling to right field, scoring Wade Wass and the Bees took a 5-2 lead. The Bees score two more times on an RBI single by Jake Yacinich and a sacrifice fly by Zach Houchins, extending the lead to 7-2. 

The Bees sent eight men to the plate in the sixth inning, scoring four runs, highlighted by a Caleb Adams three runs double, giving the Bees a nine run lead at 11-2. West Michigan went on to score three in the seventh but it wasn't enough as the Bees won, 11-5. Keynan Middleton (3-3) earned the win while Jeff Thompson (2-6) was charged the loss.
