Early rally holds up against Storm

Yuhl pitches 4.1 scoreless as Nottingham drives in three

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - The JetHawks rallied for eight runs in the first four innings and got a solid relief appearance from Keegan Yuhl en route to a 9-3 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday night at The Diamond.

Jacob Nottingham went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and two runs scored and became the first JetHawks (43-27) player this season to record three doubles in one game. 

Yuhl (2-0) tossed 4.1 innings of scoreless relief and received the win, holding Lake Elsinore (34-46) to two hits and one walk while striking out three.

The JetHawks scored three runs in both the second and third innings against Storm starting pitcher Zech Lemond (4-6). In the second, Jack Mayfield doubled and Brian Holberton reached on an error, scoring Mayfield. Marc Wik then doubled, and a Mott Hyde singled plated two more runs for a 3-0 Lancaster lead. Chase McDonald led off with a single in the third and scored on Nottingham's first double, and a Holberton double and Wik single added two more runs to extend the JetHawks' lead to six runs.

Lancaster added an additional run in the sixth against reliever Kyle Bartsch, as Nottingham doubled and scored on a Mayfield single. Nottingham also hit a two-run double in the fourth, Lemond's final inning. The right-hander yielded eight runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks.

JetHawks starter Troy Scribner pitched 4.2 innings, allowing a Nick Schulz two-run homer in the fourth inning and a Marcus Davis sacrifice fly in the fifth prior to exiting. Scribner struck out four and gave up five hits and walked two.

The rubber game of the series will be played on Monday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. The JetHawks will send Edison Frias (8-2, 3.99) to the mound, while Ronald Herrera (5-5, 3.96) will start for Lake Elsinore.
