Omahen and BayBears Shut Down M-Braves

Mobile caps off road trip with fifth shutout in last nine games
July 26, 2015

PEARL, MS - The Mobile BayBears (18-11, 52-46) wrapped up their five game set against the Mississippi Braves (17-13, 50-48) with a 3-0 shutout win at Trustmark Park on Sunday night. The blanking was the BayBears third shutout in five games and their fifth scoreless performance against a team in the last nine games. The BayBears end the weekend with a 1.5 game lead, in first place, in the Southern League South Division standings.

BayBears RHP John Omahen (4-0) stifled the M-Braves bats on Sunday. The righty earned his fourth Dobuble-A victory after limiting Mississippi to zero runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out six in a season-high, eight innings of work on the mound.

Mobile backed the Omahen's efforts with three runs in the game. The first, scoring in the top of the third inning with a Zach Borenstein RBI single and Rudy Flores tacked on the final two runs for the BayBears with a two-run double in the top of the sixth frame.
