Box Score

The Crosscutters had a quick start offensively in front of the home crowd against Spikes starter Josh Wirsu. Zach Coppola reached on an error by the short stop and would score on a Josh Tobias RBI single to make it 1-0. With Tobias standing on first base, Jose Pujols connected for his second home run of the season to make it 3-0. The first inning would truly set the tone for the game as Cutters starter Luke Leftwich tossed six innings of one run baseball.

Williamsport used some great defensive play behind Leftwich to keep the Spikes off of the scoreboard. State College would find their way onto the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. Ronnierd Garcia drove in the lone run for State College with a two out single. Leftwich struck out six batters while allowing five hits en-route to his second win of the season.

Leading 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning the Cutters would put something together offensively to add to their lead. Tobias would reach base on a passed ball after swinging at strike to give the Cutters some Momentum. Brendon Hayden picked up his fifth double of the season to plate Tobias and give Williamsport a 4-1 lead.

Skylar Hunter and Anthony Sequeira would team up to toss a scoreless inning of relief. Hunter worked a clean seventh inning after walking the leadoff batter to start the inning. Sequeira was able to get past a pair of singles from State College to keep them off of the scoreboard. Heading to the ninth inning the Cutters would call on Rob Tasin to shut the books on State College. Tasin retired all three batters that came to the plate to secure the win and pick up his league leading 14th save of the season.
