Ortega and McFarland Named FSL Postseason All-Stars

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Florida State League announced on Thursday that Brevard County right-handed pitcher Jorge Ortega and second baseman Chris McFarland were named 2015 FSL Postseason All-Stars.

Before being promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs, Ortega posted a league-best 2.41 ERA (38 ERA/141.2 IP). He led the league with six complete games, three more than any other pitcher in the league and was tied for the league-lead with two shutouts. Ortega is tied for the FSL lead with a 1.04 WHIP. He walked 10 batters in 20 starts during 2015. Ortega leads the FSL in fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings (9.43). He is third in the league with a .246 opponents batting average. Ortega is currently ranked third in the league with 141.2 innings pitched. He was also named a FSL Mid-Season All-Star.

McFarland ranks second in the league with 147 hits. He is batting .276 with three home runs and 46 RBI on the year. McFarland is tied for the league-lead with 133 games played, including 117 at second base. He has stolen 20 bases and has 38 multi-hit games on the year. McFarland recorded an 11-game hitting streak between 5/4 and 5/16. He hit the only Brevard County grand slam of the season in a 5-3 win at Tampa on 7/9. He also had a walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the 12th inning vs. Tampa on 8/5. McFarland was named a 2014 MiLB.com Organization All-Star and a 2015 FSL Mid-Season All-Star.
