Bundy Scratched from AFL Start

Hart Pitches in Fall Stars Game, Marin Among Leaders in Hitting and Runs Scored
November 10, 2015

FREDERICK, Md. -Dylan Bundy was scratched from his third AFL start on Monday afternoon due to right forearm tightness. The setback comes one week after Bundy made his Fall League debut with the Peoria Javelinas. Prior to last Monday, Bundy had not pitched in a game since May due to a right shoulder injury.

The right-hander last started on Friday at Surprise, giving up one run on two hits over one inning. He threw 19 pitches, 14 for strikes. In two innings of AFL action, Bundy has allowed a run on two hits and struck out one.

"He has a little tightness in his forearm," Orioles Director of Player Development Brian Graham told MASN's Steve Melewski. "He's fine, no injury. Just some tightness, so we backed off. It's day-to-day. With tightness in his forearm, obviously, we're not going to push him through that. There is no major concern."

Limited to only eight starts this season, Bundy went 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 22 innings. He walked five and struck out 25, while opponents batted .253 against him. Since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013, the 22-year-old has thrown only 63 innings. In 2014, Bundy made six starts for the Keys, posting a 1-2 record and a 4.78 ERA before being shut down with a right lat strain.

Elsewhere on the mound, Donnie Hart pitched one-third of an inning for the West Division in the AFL Fall Stars game on Saturday night at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. He struck out the lone batter that he faced. Entering Tuesday's action, the former Keys southpaw is 1-0 with a 4.32 ERA (8.1 IP/4ER) for Peoria. Coming off an outstanding regular season, Hart was a combined 6-2 with a 1.49 ERA between Frederick, Low-A Delmarva and Double-A Bowie.

Despite not playing in the Fall Stars Game, Adrian Marin has not slowed down at the plate, batting .316 in 14 games with a triple, four doubles, five RBIs and 12 runs scored. He is tied for third in the AFL in runs scored (12), 12th in hitting and 13th in on-base percentage (.391). He leads all active Javelinas players in hitting.

Marin has hit safely and scored a run in seven straight games, and is batting .400 (12-for-30) with three doubles, four RBIs and nine runs scored during that time. This past May with the Keys, the Miami native tied his career-high with a nine-game hitting streak from May 16-27. With Peoria he has split time between second, shortstop and third.

The Frederick Keys kickoff their 2016 season on Thursday, April 7 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on the Grand Strand, while the home opener is scheduled for one week later on April 14 at 7:00 p.m against Lynchburg. Ticket plans for 2016 are already on sale, while all plan holders will receive a Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop double bobblehead.
