Donna Light has been promoted to New Orleans Zephyrs Assistant General Manager, the team announced today.

Light was hired by the Zephyrs as an intern in 2008 and within a year became the team's Director of Finance and Administration, overseeing the club's financial and human resources operations, a position she had held for eight seasons.

"We are privileged to have Donna as our new Assistant General Manager," said Zephyrs Senior Vice President and General Manager Cookie Rojas. "She has been an incredible asset to the team through the years, and we are delighted to have a woman of her caliber at the forefront of the organization."

"It is an honor to be entrusted with helping to resurrect this franchise as Assistant General Manager," said Light. "I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity I have been given. Through the commitment of Lou Schwechheimer, Cookie Rojas, Matt White, myself and our entire team, we will become the number one franchise in the Pacific Coast League and all of Minor League Baseball.

A native of Kenner, Louisiana, where she grew up the youngest of five children, Light graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2008.

"There's something about working for your hometown team," said Light. "Actually, one of my first dates was to watch the Zephyrs play. Working for the club has brought me so much joy, it's never really a day off when you are doing something you love.

"Being able to see the impact that professional sports has on the community is what drives me each day."
