Jackson Sneaks Past Mobile as BayBears Fall 3-1

MOBILE, AL -  The Jackson Generals snuck past the Mobile BayBears by a final of 3-1on Wednesday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. Despite the BayBears taking an early lead, the Generals posted one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to come back and drop Mobile in the series finale. The two teams finished the six-game series each winning three games but Jackson finished the 10-game season series with the 6-4 advantage over Mobile.

Mobile (17-22) scored its lone in the bottom of the third inning when BayBears third baseman, Kevin Medrano drove in center fielder Evan Marzilli from third with a sacrifice fly to left. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the BayBears got the tying and go ahead runs on second and third with no out but failed to drive in any runs.

Jackson (23-16) was paced offensively by Guilliermo Heredia who went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Leon Landry and Marcus Littlewood tallied the Generals other two runs as Jackson snapped Mobile's longest winning streak of the season at three.

BayBears RHP Edgar Garcia had his streak of 15 scoreless innings broken up when the Generals posted a run in the top of the sixth inning. The righty settled for a no decision after allowing just one run on six hits in six innings of work.

The loss was charged to BayBears RHP Adam Miller (0-3) who allowed both the tying and go ahead runs to score over two innings of work in the seventh and eighth innings.

The BayBears will remain at home as the 12-day homestand continues through Thursday, May 26. This Mississippi Braves come to town for a five-game series that runs from Thursday through Monday. First pitch between Mobile and Mississippi is scheduled for 6:35 PM on Thursday night with gates opening up at 6:00 PM.
