Cutters Still Searching For First Road Win

June 26, 2016

Auburn, NY -- The road continues to be a difficult puzzle to solve for Williamsport, as the Cutters dropped a 3-1 decision to the Auburn Doubledays Sunday evening. For the Cutters, who have yet to win on the road, it was their sixth-straight road loss to start the season.

Bailey Falter went a season-high four innings for Williamsport, taking his second loss of the season, falling to 0-2. Falter allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks. The lefty struck out a season-high two Doubledays batters.

Auburn plated their first run of the night in the bottom of the 1st inning when Cutters first basemen Darick Hll misplayed a two-out grounball that hopped over his glove into right field, allowing Daniel Johnson to score and make 1-0.

The Doubledays added two more in the bottom of the 2nd inning, getting their first run of the inning on a Blake Perkins RBI single to short, scoring Luis Viliorio to give the Doubledays a 2-0 lead. Daniel Johnson followed with a sacrifice fly, bringing home Dalton Dulin to extend the Auburn lead to 3-0.

Falter would not allow another run in the next two innings before being relieved by Julian Garcia, who made his professional debut.

Garcia worked two perfect innings of relief, picking up a pair of strikeouts, keeping the Doubledays off of the board.

The Crosscutters avoided the shutout, getting their lone run in the top of the 6th inning. Lucas Williams's third double of the year, followed by a Darick Hall walk, set up an RBI single for Luis Encarnacion, scoring Williams from 2nd and cutting the Auburn lead to 3-1.

It was Encarnacion's 3rd RBI on the season, tying him for the team lead in the category.

Carlos Indriago relieved Julian Garcia in the 7th inning, working back-to-back shutout innings, allowing just one base runner, a hit, in the outing.

The Crosscutters bullpen worked a combined four shutout innings in the loss, running their current streak to 22.1 innings since allowing their last earned run.

As a team, the Cutters collected four doubles in the loss to Auburn, including Brett Barbier's first professional hit. Enmanuel Garcia picked up his team leading forth double as well.

Williamsport wraps up their series with Auburn before heading to Tri-City. Adonis Medina looks to continue his excellent start as he makes his third start of 2016 for the Williamsport Crosscutters as he will be opposed by Weston Davis, who will be making his second start for the Auburn Doubledays. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
