July 5, 2016

DANVILLE, Va. -- It is with sadness that the Danville Braves announce that recently retired Assistant General Manager Bob Kitzmiller passed away Monday morning after a brief illness. Kitzmiller, 66, first started with the team in 1998 when Danville hosted two professional baseball teams, the Rookie level Danville Braves and the Single A Danville 97's. He moved into the front office in 2001 to take over the Assistant GM position and stayed in that position until his retirement in March of this year. In addition to the Braves, Bob had worked as the Athletic Director at Sacred Heart School, served on the board of Danville Little League and Chatham Youth League, and had refereed countless youth basketball, soccer, and baseball games over the last 30 years.

Services have not been confirmed at this time and we ask that you keep his wife Deborah, his four children, two step-children, and numerous grandchildren in your thoughts at this time.
