Sagdal's homer leads Suns to victory

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns (70-49) defeated the Asheville Tourists (58-59) 3-2 on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.

The Suns trailed for the first five innings, but scored three runs in the sixth inning with two outs to win. Ian Sagdal hit the go-ahead two-run home run.

After a scoreless first inning, Yonathan Daza led off the second inning with a double to center field and advanced to third base on an infield error.

With one out, Daza scored on a single by Sam Hilliard to give the Tourists the lead.

The Tourists went ahead by two runs in the fourth inning on a single by Mylez Jones, scoring Brian Mundell. Mundell doubled to center field.

After an hour rain delay with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Hagerstown came back and scored three runs in the sixth inning with two outs.

Narciso Mesa and Randy Encarnacion led off the inning with singles. Mesa stole third and scored on a groundout by Kelvin Gutierrez.

To put the Suns ahead after trailing for five innings, Sagdal hit a two-run home run to right-center field.

Winning pitcher, Robbie Dickey (1-0), relieved James Bourque after 4.2 innings and held Asheville to 2.1 hitless innings.

Mariano Rivera lll pitched the final two innings and earned his eighth save.

Asheville's Drasen Johnson (6-2, 3.65) will face Hagerstown's J.D. Martin (0-1, 5.40) in the final game of the series on Sunday at Municipal Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. ET
