BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Barons and Minor League Baseball are excited to announce that second baseman Joey DeMichele has been named a Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner for the second consecutive season.

DeMichele, 25, also won the award last season for his stellar defensive play last season, and becomes the first player since infielder Jordan Lennerton (2013-14) to win the award in two straight seasons.

"Congratulations to Joey on back-to-back gold gloves," Chicago White Sox Director of Player Development Nick Capra said. "It's a well-deserved honor for him."

Selected by the White Sox in the third round of the 2012 MLB Draft, DeMichele finished this season with a .988 fielding percentage, committing just seven errors in 589 total chances across 126 total games. The Arizona State product made 122 appearances at second base and played four games as the Barons' third baseman.

In total, DeMichele has committed just 17 errors in 285 games with Birmingham since his promotion near the end of the 2014 season.
