Opportunities for photos, 2017 tix, merchandise open through fall
September 29, 2016

State College Spikes fans can celebrate the second New York-Penn League championship in the last three years with celebrations throughout October. Fans can take their photos with the trophy, purchase 2016 championship merchandise and reserve tickets for the Spikes' title defense in 2017.

The festivities continue as fans can get an up-close look at the trophy throughout Penn State Homecoming weekend. The festivities begin as the NYPL championship trophy is set to accompany Ike the Spike when he marches in the Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 7.

The trophy will then be on display inside Off the Rack Outfitters on Saturday, October 8 as Medlar Field at Lubrano Park opens to the public from 8 to 11:30 a.m. before the Nittany Lions kick off their Homecoming game against Maryland at noon inside Beaver Stadium. Fans can get their trophy pictures and pick up Spikes championship merchandise that morning.

In addition, the trophy will head to Downtown State College on Saturday, October 15, for the 17th Annual Downtown Fall Festival, featuring the Centre County Resource Fair, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place on the 200 block of South Allen Street, and fans are encouraged to visit the Spikes table throughout the day for more trophy pictures and championship fun.

Plus, due to the rainout of the Penn State exhibition game on September 30, the public photo opportunity with the New York-Penn League championship trophy that was to have taken place on that date will be rescheduled to another date and time that will be announced in the near future.

2017 Season Tickets will also be on sale at each event, so fans do not miss any of the fun and excitement of Spikes' title defense starting next June. For more information on season tickets, as well as a variety of group packages and experiences for the 2017 season, fans can inquire with a Spikes ticket representative at any of the championship celebrations or call (814) 272-1711.
