Keys All Over Baseball America Top 10 List

Publication Names Sisco Top Orioles Prospect
October 24, 2016

FREDERICK, Md. -On Monday morning, Baseball America announced its list of top 10 Orioles prospects. Half of those were members of the 2016 Frederick Keys or were Keys alumni. Chance Sisco, the starting catcher for the orange in black in 2015 earned the top ranking.

Earning a spot on Team USA for the Futures Game, Sisco hit .320 in 112 games with the Double-A Bowie Baysox and led the Eastern League with a .406 on-base percentage. He also placed fourth in hitting. On September 1, he earned his first call up to Triple-A Norfolk.

As a Keys player, Sisco hit .308 across 75 games with four home runs and 26 RBIs while finishing with a .387 on-base percentage. Outstanding with runners in scoring position, he batted .316 with men closest to home. Following the season, Baseball America recognized him as a High-A All-Star and rated him as the league's No. 10 prospect.

Other players with Keys ties on the list included Trey Mancini (No. 5), Jomar Reyes (No. 8), Chris Lee (No. 9) and Tanner Scott (No. 10). The Keys first baseman for parts of 2014 and 2015, Mancini earned his first call-up to the Orioles in September. Batting .357 in five games, he became just the third player in Major League history to hit a home run in each of his first three games. Before his call-up, he spent time between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk where he hit a collective .282 with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs in 142 games.

One of the youngest players in the Carolina League this year, Reyes experienced a learning curve as the Keys everyday third baseman. In 126 games, he hit .228 with 10 home runs and 51 RBIs. Offensively, he fared the best in June, batting .280 in 26 games.

Acquired from the Astros in May 2015 for two international bonus slots, Lee took off while playing for the orange and black last season. With the help of Keys pitching coach Kennie Steenstra, the southpaw registered a 3.07 ERA in 14 starts with the Keys, including a 1.47 figure in his last seven contests.

Called up to Bowie last August, Lee played on the Baysox Eastern League Championship team before being added to the organization's 40-man roster. This season he was 5-0 with a 2.98 ERA but was limited to only eight games because of a shoulder injury. Not the only power lefty on the list, Scott used his 100 mph fastball to strike out 63 in 48.1 innings for the Keys this year. He posted a 4.47 ERA and held opponents to a .133 batting average against.

Rounding out the top 10 list were Cody Sedlock (No. 2), Ryan Mountcastle (No. 3), Hunter Harvey (No. 4), Keegan Akin (No. 6) and Austin Hays (No. 7).

The Frederick Keys kickoff their 2017 season on Thursday, April 6 at Nymeo Field against the Carolina Mudcats. For ticket information and the latest offseason news, fans can call 301-815-9900 or visit frederickkeys.com.
