Nine runs in first four innings lead BayBears to victory

PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 21, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, scored nine runs in the first four innings to cruise to a 9-4 victory over Pensacola Blue Wahoos Sunday at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
David Fletcher matched his career-high in hits, going a perfect 4-for-4, and drove in a season-high three runs. Fletcher hit a two-run single in the first to put the BayBears (19-25) in front early.
Pensacola native Wade Wass added to the lead with his team-high seventh home run, a three-run shot in the third off Keury Mella (1-4). Wass has hit six of his seven home runs in the month of May.
The BayBears capped off the scoring barrage with four more runs in the top of the fourth. Michael Hermosillo and Zach Houchins both hit RBI doubles, and Fletcher knocked in another run with a single. Fletcher, Hermosillo, Houchins, and Zach Gibbons all finished with multi-hit games.
The Blue Wahoos (24-20) scored all four of their runs on homers. Eric Jagielo put Pensacola on the board with a three-run homer in the sixth off Conor Lillis-White, who pitched two innings in his Double-A debut. Aristides Aquino hit a solo blast in the eighth to cut Mobile's lead to 9-4.
Osmer Morales (2-0) pitched five scoreless innings and only allowed two hits in the win. Prior to Jagielo's home run in the sixth, Mobile pitchers had combined to throw 19 straight scoreless innings going back to Friday night.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game road series against the Blue Wahoos Monday at 6:35 p.m. CT. Right-hander Jake Jewell (2-2, 4.32 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Deck McGuire (3-2, 2.96 ERA) for Pensacola.
