Bees Comeback for Sixth Straight Win

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (29-36) came back to knock off the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (26-38), 6-4, in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday night at Community Field. 

After being shutout in back-to-back games, Wisconsin's offense woke up in the second inning. Ronnie Gideon started the inning by lining a single to left. Ryan Aguilar made it two straight hits with an infield single. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners over, Nathan Rodriguez blooped a single into center, scoring Gideon, giving Wisconsin a 1-0 lead. Later in the frame, Gilbert Lara singled to right, scoring two runs, extending the lead to 3-0. 
Ryan Aguilar started another run scoring inning with a single, this time in the fourth inning. After back-to-back strikeouts, Aguilar came home to score on a Caleb Whalen double, pushing Wisconsin's lead to 4-0. 
The Bees bats came to life in the fifth. With one out, Derek Jenkins and Jahmai Jones both walked and advanced on stolen bases. Jack Kruger put the Bees on the board with a single to left, cutting the deficit to 4-1. With the bases loaded, Jordan Zimmerman drove in Jones with a sacrifice fly, making it a 4-2 game. With two outs, Sam McDonnell singled in a pair of runs, tying the game at four.
The Bees completed their comeback in the sixth inning. With one out, Derek Jenkins singled and moved to second ona Jahmai Jones single. After a walk loaded the bases, Keith Grieshaber reached on an error, scoring two runs, giving the Bees the 6-4 lead.
Reliever Jackson Zarubin (4-1) earned the win while Andrew Vernon (0-2) was charged with the loss.
