3-Run Seventh Downs K-Mets Sunday Night

Kingsport was in control leading by two runs in the seventh before Greeneville rattled off three in the frame to secure the come-from-behind victory

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.- A three-run seventh inning propelled Greeneville to victory Sunday night after trailing throughout as the Astros snapped a four-game losing streak to Kingsport by downing the Mets 5-4 in the come-from-behind effort from Pioneer Park in game 3 of the five-game series.
Kingsport (22-28) held a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before Greeneville (27-23) sparked some two-out magic to score three unanswered runs off two hits and an error defensively from the Mets.
K-Mets could ever respond as the score held true until the final 5-4 in the ninth inning.
Greeneville scored for the first time I the series in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the K-Mets early on. Brody Westmoreland delivered an RBI single to right field that was deep enough to plate Gilberto Celestino from second base for the game's first tally.
The base-hit was the first run of the series for the Astros as the club was shutout a pair of times in a Saturday double header to begin the series.
Anthony Dirocie countered in the top of the second by tying the Appalachian League-lead with his 39th RBI on the year to tie the game at one run apiece. The run-scoring knock was also the center fielder's 24th extra-base-hit of the season, a league-leader in the category, as the double down the left field line scored Juan Uriate all the way from first base.
Midway through two innings, the game was knotted at 1-1.
Kingsport took the lead in the inning that followed when Rigoberto Terrazas notched his 16th double of the season, tied for the Appalachian League-lead, that plated Hansel Moreno from first base with two gone in the third. The drive nearly left the ballpark in dep left-center field but did bring in the go-ahead run as the Mets led 2-1 midway through three innings.
Once again, the Mets added a run of insurance in the top of the fifth inning on the second hit of the day from short stop Hansel Moreno. Only a half-inning removed from making two highlight-reel leaping catches in the field. Moreno comes through at the plate-singling in a run with an RBI single up the middle.
Mets were on top 3-1 at the halfway mark of inning No. 5.
After working out of multiple jams throughout the start, Kingsport pitcher Ronald Sanchez exited the contest after five innings of one-run baseball, surrounding four hits with five walks, one hit batsman and no strikeouts. Though the righty did not possess his best stuff on the mound during his fourth start of the season, Sanchez left the ballgame with the lead intact after a career-high five innings on the mound.
Greeneville responded in the bottom of the sixth as Yuedy Colon came into relieve Sanchez. With one out, Martin Figueroa lined a homer out of the park to right field to cut the K-Mets lead to one run at 3-2 after six innings of play.
Terrazas came to the plate in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and only one out and proceeded to talk in a runner for the fourth run of the day. Though the bases were loaded with no outs in the frame, Kingsport only gets the one run as it was the third baseman's second RBI of the day to put the Mets back out in front by a pair of runs at 4-2 midway through the seventh inning.
The Astros battled back in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead by scoring three runs off only two hits and taking advantage of a walk and a defensive error by Kingsport. With two outs, a throwing error allowed Cody Bohanek to reach first base. Two batters alter he scored on an RBI single from Roman Garcia.
During an at-bat with Westmoreland, Gilberto Celestino scored on a wild pitch before the slugger at the plate drove in his second run of the day with an RBI double down the left field line. The score remained the same until the 27th out of the game was collected for the Astros as the home team won Game 3 of the series 5-4 Sunday night.
Colon (0-2) took home the loss after surrendering four runs, one earned, off three hits in two innings of work. Dariel Aquino (2-1) picked up the win after coming on in a jam in the seventh and pitch the final 2 2/3 innings on the bump-allowing no runs and no hits with four strikeouts.
Garcia, Westmoreland and Reiny Beltre all collected two hits during the win for Greeneville while Westmoreland drove in two runs. Moreno was the lone K-Met who tallied a multi-hit day as the short stop finished the outing 2-for04 with an RBI. Terrazas drove in a pair of runs during the loss while Dirocie drove in another with a double in the second.
Game 4 of the series is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday night form Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tenn. Carlos Hernandez will get the nod for Kingsport as coverage of the game can be found on the Kingsport Mets Baseball Network beginning at 6:45 p.m.
