Henry Ramos continued to be a Baby Cake killer, delivering the walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning to rally the Oklahoma City Dodgers past New Orleans on Monday night, 8-7.
Ramos finished 3-for-5 on the night and 12-for-19 with 13 RBI in the four-game series, including two doubles, a triple and his first two career grand slams.
After the 'Cakes grabbed the lead in the top half of the extra frame courtesy of a run-scoring ground out by Scott Van Slyke, the Dodgers quickly loaded the bases against Nick Wittgren on a fielder's choice and a single. Ramos then ripped a grounder past a diving Cristhian Adames at second base to bring in the winning run.
The Dodgers claimed their third consecutive walk-off win over the Baby Cakes, who lost all seven games on their first road trip of the season, including four via walk-offs.
Oklahoma City is off to a 9-1 start and is 7-0 at home.
The Dodgers scored in the first inning for the third time in the series, taking a 2-0 advantage when Ramos singled home Tim Locastro and later scored on a two-out single by Jake Peter.
Baby Cakes pitcher Zac Gallen helped himself at the plate, delivering an RBI single in the second to slice the deficit in half, but gave the run back in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch to score Donovan Solano.
New Orleans cashed in a leadoff triple by Magneuris Sierra in the third and evened the score at 3-3 on a two-out single by Adames in the fifth, only for Alex Verdugo to lead off the bottom of the fifth with his third home run in as many games.
The Dodgers tacked on two more runs in the sixth to build a 6-3 cushion, including one on an RBI single by Maz Muncy, who finished with four hits. But the Baby Cakes fought back to tie in the eighth when Sharif Othman drove in a run and later got caught in a rundown between first and second, allowing Cito Culver to race home from third with the tying run.
Wittgren (0-2) suffered his second blown save and defeat in a row, after Gallen gave up four runs and 10 hits in five innings.
Pat Venditte (1-0) worked around a pair of walks in the 10th to limit New Orleans to one run and was credited with the victory. Walker Buehler allowed three hits and two runs - one earned - with five strikeouts and two walks in four innings.
The 'Cakes return home to open a seven-game homestand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with the first of four games against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
