Cutters Fall In Extra Innings

After retiring the first batter of the 4th inning,
Mezquita worked a scoreless 5th inning, his final inning of the outing before being relieved by
Austin Ross allowed a lead off walk to Hernandez in the top of the 6th inning, but Jesse Wilkening threw out Hernandez trying to swipe 2nd base. Ross retired the next two to get out of the inning without allowing a run.
In the top of the 7th,
In the bottom of the 8th, Jesse Wilkening was hit in the back of the helmet by a Zach Wolf fastball, forcing Wilkening to leave the game under his own power, and replaced by
Seth Lancaster clubbed a Wolf offering into deep right-center field, one-hopping the wall for a RBI double to cut the deficit to 3-1 on the Cutters first hit of the night. It was the 5th double and the 4th RBI of the season for Lancaster.
Madison Stokes plated Lancaster with a RBI single into center field, making it a 3-2 deficit on Stokes 6th RBI of the season.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Ben Aklinski grounded to the 1st basemen Sean Reynolds, who fielded the ball and then slipped on his way to the bag. Reynolds flipped on to the pitcher covering just in time to get Aklinski and leave the winning run at 3rd base.
After tossing back-to-back perfect frames of relief,
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Madison Stokes doubled to deep right field, scoring Ben Aklinski from 2nd base to make the deficit 7-4 with no outs. It was the 2nd double and the 7th RBI of the season for Stokes.
Danny Mayer singled in to center field, scoring Stokes to make it a 7-5 deficit with one out. It was the 9th RBI of the season for Mayer.
Williamsport got the tying run on base, with the winning run at home plate, unfortunately, Seth Lancaster struck out swinging to end the ball game.
The Crosscutters continue the series with Batavia tomorrow night at BB&T Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
