KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- The Greeneville Reds' scheduled game Wednesday evening against the Kingsport Mets at Hunter Wright Stadium has been postponed due to rain.
As a result, there will be a doubleheader on Thursday, August 2, with the first pitch of game one scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET. Both games will be seven-inning affairs with a roughly 30-minute break in between games.
The rainout is Greeneville's fifth of the season and their second on as the visiting team. This is the second affair against Kingsport that has been pushed back due to rain, joining the washout on June 26. That contest will be made up as a twinbill at Pioneer Park on Sunday, August 19. Last year, the then-Greeneville Astros had five games postponed, one contest suspended, and one affair cancelled due to weather.
Tonight's scheduled starting pitchers - RHP Alexis Diaz  (2-0, 4.15 ERA) for Greeneville and RHP Nate Peden  (1-2, 5.96 ERA) for Kingsport - are expected to go in game one. RHP Ricky Karcher  (0-1, 8.15 ERA) is projected to get the ball for the Reds in the second contest. The K-Mets are slated to counter with RHP Willy Taveras  (2-0, 2.12 ERA)
The G-Reds Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 5:15 p.m. ET, leading up to the 5:30 p.m. ET start at Hunter Wright Stadium. Thursday evening's contest can be heard on GreenevilleReds.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.
Following the road trip, the Reds will return home on Friday, August 3, to open up a three-contest series against the Johnson City Cardinals. It will be a Firework Friday at Pioneer Park as all fans are encouraged to stay after the game, as they will be treated to a spectacular postgame fireworks display following the final out.
Season and single-game tickets are still available and can be purchased online at GreenevilleReds.com or by calling the Reds' Ticket Office at (423) 609-7400.
