Beau Taylor delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 5-4 win on Sunday night in the finale of a three-game set against the New Orleans Baby Cakes.
Taylor's line drive single to left-center scored Anthony Garcia from third to snap a 4-4 deadlock. Garcia doubled with one out and moved to third on a wild pitch moments before Taylor's go-ahead single off Nick Wittgren (0-4).
Nashville had a pair of solo home runs in the second inning from Franklin Barreto and Sheldon Neuse to start the scoring. The Baby Cakes answered with three runs in the third despite collecting just one hit in the inning, a leadoff single by Peter Mooney.
The Sounds came back with two runs in the fourth to reclaim the lead on RBI singles by RBI singles by Neuse and Jorge Mateo, only for the Baby Cakes to respond an inning later, tying the game when Braxton Lee doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Nashville starter Frankie Montas was charged with four runs in five innings, and Raul Alcantara (5-4) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Liam Hendricks had to wiggle out of a ninth-inning jam to secure his fifth save, striking out Lee and Isan Diaz after putting runners at the corners with one out.
Sandy Alcantara worked seven innings for the 'Cakes, allowing four runs and eight hits.
The Baby Cakes have their final scheduled off day of the season on Monday before returning home to host the Memphis Redbirds in a three-game series beginning Tuesday at 7 p.m.
