MOBILE, Ala. (April 28, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, won the first three games of the series but were held scoreless by the Mississippi Braves in a 6-0 loss Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Luis Madero (0-1) gave up three runs on four hits to the first five batters he faced. However, he settled down and retired the next eight batters before issuing a walk and a two-run homer to Ray-Patrick Didder in the fourth. Madero completed four innings and struck out five but took the loss in his Double-A debut.
Jeremy Beasley worked the next five innings for the BayBears (10-13). After four scoreless frames, Didder hit his second home run of the game with two outs in the ninth. It was Didder's first career multi-homer game, and the long ball snapped Beasley's stretch of 13 consecutive scoreless innings. Beasley fanned eight batters, one shy of matching his career-high.
Ian Anderson (1-1) pitched six scoreless innings and recorded eight strikeouts for the Braves (10-12). The BayBears mustered just three scattered singles in the entire game, including two from Jack Kruger .
The BayBears wrap up the five-game series against Mississippi Monday at 11:05 a.m. Left-handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval (0-3, 4.20 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Kyle Muller (0-1, 3.86 ERA) for the Braves.
