Cerda Shines, G-Reds Close Out Series with 10-0 Win

GREENEVILLE, TN - Allan Cerda homered twice, and drove in seven runs in the Greeneville Reds (5-4) 10-0 win over the Johnson City Cardinals (4-4) Thursday night at Pioneer Park. The 19-year-old finished 4-for-5, driving in a run in each of his first four at-bats.
Ivan Johnson and Tyler Callihan hit back-to-back singles off RHP Julio Puello (L, 0-1) to open up first. Johnson moved to third on a double play, and scored on Cerda's first RBI-single to put Greeneville on the board.
After Puello retired the first two Reds in the third, Danielito Remy singled to extend the inning. Cerda hit the next pitch over the center field wall for a two-run home run, his second home run of the season.
Callihan and Remy hit back-to-back singles to lead off the fifth in front of Cerda, who hit a three-run home run to left center field off Puello to put Greeneville up 6-0.
Remy doubled to open the seventh, and scored on Cerda's second RBI-single. After RHP Wilberto Rivera recorded the first two outs, Danny Lantigua hit a ground ball back to the mound, Rivera threw the ball wide of first, allowing Cerda to score. A few pitches later, Raul Juarez hit a two-run home run to left field to round out the scoring.
RHP Graham Ashcraft (W, 1-1) earned his first professional win. He allowed just two hits over five shut out innings with five strikeouts. LHP Andy Fisher worked two scoreless innings in relief, striking out two. RHP Tanner Cooper struck out four over two perfect innings to end the game.
Callihan and Remy each finished the night 3-for-5. Remy doubled and scored three times, while Callihan scored once.
The Reds will begin a series with the Elizabethton Twins Friday night at Pioneer Park, with first pitch coming at 6:30 PM. RHP JC Keys (1-0, 0.00) will get the start for Greeneville, the E-Twins will counter with RHP Ben Gross (0-0, 6.75).
Fans who come out to Pioneer Park Friday night can enjoy a huge post-game fireworks show.
