  • SpikesFest 2017 set for Sunday, March 5

    The State College Spikes are ready to bring in the spring with the free family fun of SpikesFest 2017, presented by Mount Nittany Health and WTAJ-TV. SpikesFest 2017 will take place on Sunday, March 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penn State Multi-Sport Facility, located across from the Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus.   • New manager Kruzel leads 2017 coaching staff

    The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the 2017 coaching staff for the defending New York-Penn League champion State College Spikes. Joe Kruzel, who led the Single-A Peoria Chiefs for the past three years, will take over as the ninth manager in Spikes history. Kruzel joins a trio of returnees in hitting coach Roger LaFrancois, pitching coach Darwin Marrero and athletic trainer Chris Whitman on the bench in 2017. Jordan Brown also joins the staff as the new strength and conditioning coach. MORE »
  • Spikes' 2017 schedule released, ticket plans available

    The State College Spikes' 2017 schedule is out, and the defending New York-Penn League champions are getting ready to take the field. The Spikes, Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, will begin the summer at home on Monday, June 19, and ticket plans for all 38 home games on the 2017 schedule are now available, including Season Ticket memberships and Flex Books. The Spikes' regular season home slate will run through Thursday, September 7. MORE »
  • Neri earns highest award from STMA & MiLB

    Minor League Baseball and the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) announced that State College Spikes Senior Sports Turf Manager Matt Neri has been named Sports Turf Manager of the Year for the entire Short-Season/Rookie classification. Neri, the four-time New York-Penn League Sports Turf Manager of the Year, is a first-time winner of the classification-wide honor. The Williamsburg, PA native will now join the Triple-A, Double-A and Single-A honorees for the Awards Luncheon on Monday December 5 at the Baseball Winter Meetings in National Harbor, MD. MORE »
  • Marmol named Cards first-base coach

    Oliver Marmol, who led the State College Spikes to their first-ever division and New York-Penn League championships, has been named the St. Louis Cardinals' new first-base coach, as announced by the Cardinals on Thursday. Marmol became the Spikes' manager in 2013 and guided the club to its first ever NYPL Pinckney Division title and NYPL Championship Series berth before skippering the Spikes to the NYPL crown in 2014.   • 2011 Spikes skipper Bartee joins Pirates staff

    Kimera Bartee, who managed the State College Spikes in 2011, has been named the Pittsburgh Pirates' new first-base and outfield/baserunning coach, as announced by the club this past weekend. Bartee, who has been the Pirates' minor league outfield/baserunning coordinator for the past nine seasons, will serve a similar role on the major league staff. MORE »
  • Neri named NYPL Sports Turf Manager of the Year

    The Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) has named State College Spikes Senior Sports Turf Manager Matt Neri the 2016 New York-Penn League Sports Turf Manager of the Year. Neri, the only sports turf manager that Medlar Field at Lubrano Park has ever known, is now a four-time recipient of the prestigious award, presented annually by Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball.   • CHAMPS! Spikes sweep Renegades for NYPL title

    Danny Hudzina smashed a two-run homer in the second to give the State College Spikes a lead they would not relinquish as they earned their second New York-Penn League title in the last three years with a 2-1 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades in Game Two of the NYPL Championship Series on Monday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.   • Quintet of Spikes alums set for AFL play

    Five former State College Spikes are ready to head west and participate in the prestigious Arizona Fall League, with workouts in the Grand Canyon State starting this weekend. Carson Kelly, Rowan Wick, Austin Gomber and Harrison Bader will join players from the St. Louis Cardinals and four other major league organizations on the Glendale Desert Dogs, while 2012 Spike Eric Wood will play for the Surprise Saguaros.   • Spikes take Game One win over Renegades

    Steven Farinaro and Max Almonte combined on a four-hit shutout, and the State College Spikes downed the Hudson Valley Renegades in the opener of the best-of-three New York-Penn League Championship Series, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Dutchess Stadium. With the win, the Spikes can now win their second NYPL title in the last three years with a victory in Game Two at 7:05 p.m. on Monday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. MORE »

    The State College Spikes' postseason schedule is now set after the conclusion of the New York-Penn League regular season. The Spikes will take on the Staten Island Yankees in the best-of-three Semifinal Series as they head #BackInTheHunt, presented by Lion Country Kia and HRI, Inc.   • 6,111 fans set new Spikes attendance record

    The State College Spikes set a new single-game attendance record on Sunday as 6,111 fans filled Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for the club's regular season home finale against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The record crowd breaks the previous mark of 6,105 fans, set on August 15, 2015 when the Spikes faced West Virginia. MORE »

    The State College Spikes are on the postseason trail once again as they seek to bring a second New York-Penn League championship to Central PA.     The State College Spikes announced their 2016 year-end award winners before the regular season home finale at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Infielder Tommy Edman was named the club's Most Valuable Player, while right-handed pitcher Steven Farinaro earned the Spikes' Pitcher of the Year award and Danny Hudzina won the Josiah Viera Perseverance Award.
