  • Chasers Reveal 2017 Daily Promotions

    With Royals players and coaches set to report for Spring Training next week, the Omaha Storm Chasers are excited to announce their daily promotions for the upcoming 2017 season. All of the Storm Chasers' popular promotions, including Hy-Vee Friday Fireworks, Wiener Wednesdays and RTG Medical Bark in the Park will return to Werner Park.   • Chasers Charities Awarding 10th Annual Jackie Robinson Scholarships

    Chasers Charities, the charitable arm of the Omaha Storm Chasers, is proud to announce the tenth annual Jackie Robinson Athletic Scholarship contest presented by The Weitz Company.   • Royals Sign Dean Anna To MiLB Deal

    The Kansas City Royals have signed infielder Dean Anna to a minor league deal, per Baseball America's minor league free agent transactions page, and also confirmed by Dean himself via Twitter. Anna played the entire 2016 season in the Pacific Coast League with the Memphis Redbirds, batting .276 (89-334), adding 48 runs, 17 doubles, one triple, two homers and 39 RBI, along with a .344 on-base percentage.   • Irving Falu Signs MiLB Deal With Nationals

    Omaha's Hit King Irving Falu has a new home for the 2017 season after signing a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals. Falu is the Omaha franchise's all-time leader in hits with 674 after breaking Jed Hansen's mark of 662, and also ranks in the top ten in many other statistical categories. MORE »
  • Chasers Announce 2017 Bobblehead Lineup

    The Omaha Storm Chasers are making a "splash" with their bobblehead lineup for the upcoming 2017 season. The team has announced a quartet of bobblehead giveaway nights that will include Salvador Perez "Salvy Splash" and Alex Gordon Superhero. Former Storm Chasers fan favorites Paulo Orlando and Whit Merrifield will also receive their own bobbleheads. MORE »
  • Hosmer, Duffy & Dyson Earn Royals Awards

    The Kansas City Royals announced on Thursday afternoon their Team Awards for the 2016 season as voted on by the Kansas City Chapter of the BBWAA at the end of last season. The organization announced that 2011 and 2014 Storm Chasers infielder Eric Hosmer was tabbed the Les Milgram Player of the Year, while 2011 and 2013-2015 hurler Danny Duffy received Bruce Rice Pitcher of the Year honors. In addition, 2010-13 and 2016 Omaha outfielder Jarrod Dyson earned the Joe Burke Special Achievement Award for 2016. MORE »
  • Dozier MLBPipeline's #10 3rd Base Prospect continues to reveal their top ten prospects in each position, with 2016 Storm Chasers infielder/outfielder Hunter Dozier tabbed the tenth-best third base prospect in baseball according to the publication. Dozier, named 2016 Omaha Player of the Year by the Royals, hit .296 (144-486) over 129 combined contests between Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas, adding 79 runs, 44 doubles, one triple, 23 homers and 75 RBI.   • 4 Omaha Alums Up For Royals Hall of Fame

    The Kansas City Royals announced on Wednesday their candidates for the 2017 class of the organization's Hall of Fame. Four former Omaha players are among those fans can vote for, including Al Fitzmorris, Kevin Seitzer, Jeff Suppan and Mark Teahen. Other Kansas City alums in the voting who did not play in Omaha include Al Cowens, Johnny Damon and Bo Jackson. MORE »

    When a player is drafted in the 50th round of the MLB draft, not much is expected of him. Sure there are the tales of a guy like Mike Piazza who was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 62nd round as a favor, but statistically speaking, the impact of your average 50th round pick was minimal. That's evident in the fact that the present-day First-Year Player Draft is capped at 40 rounds.
