Kannapolis Intimidators to Support Our Troops: Military Admitted Free All Year
03/08/2010 2:48 PM ET

KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Kannapolis Intimidators, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, with support from the United States Marines, will embark on what is believed to be a unique promotion in all of Minor League Baseball to honor Americans who have served our country in the past or who are currently serving our country as a member of the United States Military as well as their families. New for this season, anyone that shows any form of Military ID, active, retired or a family member ID at the Intimidators Ticket Office, not the will call window, will receive two free tickets to the game. This offer is valid for all 70 home games in the 2010 season.

"We are aware of the sacrifices being made, not just by our military personnel, but also their families," Intimidators General Manager Randy Long said. "We want to provide our military personnel, spouses, family and friends an enjoyable evening by providing free tickets to all of our games. We are honored to have these brave individuals and their families at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, and thanks to the support of the United States Marines, we can do so for free all season long."

Last season, the Intimidators had a Military Appreciation Night, where military personnel got in for free for one night only. However, in order to create more awareness and to honor those who serve our country and their families even more, the Intimidators have extended the offer for free tickets to the entire season. According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the state has the fourth-largest active duty military population in the United States. As of 2007, North Carolina is home to 416,400 individuals that are employed by the military or Coast Guard.

The Intimidators open the 2010 season on Thursday, April 8th against the Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves) at 7:05 PM at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. For more information call the Intimidators front office at 704.932.FANS (3267) or visit IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
