Zephyrs enjoy a night at The Hive
04/01/2010 12:10 PM ET

The Zephyrs took center stage (court?) at the New Orleans Arena on Wednesday night during the Hornets-Wizards game, which was dubbed "Zephyrs Night at The Hive."

The Hornets promoted the Zephyrs' Opening Weekend festivities throughout the night, with Zephyrs mascots Boudreaux and Clotile joining Hornets mascot Hugo and The Honeybees dance team in entertaining the crowd.

The evening included special giveaways, a dizzy bat race, and even a rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" between the third and fourth quarters.

Zephyrs General Manager Mike Schline was honored before the game as the presenter of the night's game ball, handing it to referee Derek Richardson while Hornets rookie guard Darren Collison and Wizards forward James Singleton stood by.

The night was part of an ongoing relationship between the Crescent City's professional baseball and basketball franchises, which will include the second "Hornets Night" at Zephyr Field on August 1, 2010.

"We are thrilled to be part of such an exciting partnership with the Hornets," Schline said. "The Zephyrs and Hornets are two great franchises that strive to provide the best in family entertainment, and we hope to continue to find fun and creative ways for the entire city to come together and support its teams."
