Pawtucket Nipped by Yankees, 2-1 08/09/2010 10:08 PM ET
By Steve Hyder / Pawtucket Red Sox
Pawtucket didn't score a run until the ninth inning on Monday, and it wasn't enough to beat Scranton in Moosic, Pa. In the bottom of the ninth, Jesus Montero hammered a homer off Robert Manuel for a 2-1 Scranton victory. Starters Kei Igawa and Rich Hill were sensational. Igawa worked 5.2 innings, scattering 6 hits and 0 runs, with 7 strikeouts. Hill, making his first-ever PawSox start gave up 2 hits in 5 scoreless innings. Hill fanned 6 and walked just one. Chad Paronto followed Hill and tossed 2 shutout innings and Robert Manuel took the loss. |
