GENEVA, IL -- As the Major League All-Stars prepare for next week's midsummer classic in Phoenix, the Kane County Cougars are proud to announce that the organization will host the next young class of Major League stars in 2012.

The Cougars will host the 2012 Midwest League All-Star Game, to be played at Elfstrom Stadium on Tuesday evening, June 19, 2012. Ticket information and additional details will be made available later this month.

The Cougars will also host an All-Star Game Fan Fest to precede the evening game. The fan-friendly event will feature a variety of baseball-themed fun including music, on-field fan opportunities, autograph sessions, food and more.

The Fan Fest will also include the popular "Sunday Funday" entertainment that has been featured this season at the ballpark, including face painters, balloon artists and interactive displays.

The league's 48th annual mid-season game next summer featuring the "Best in the Midwest" will be the fourth occasion in which the Cougars have hosted, most recently in 2007 as well as in 2000 and in 1993. Those games featured the likes of Albert Pujols ('00 All-Star), Jake Peavy ('00 All-Star) and Clayton Kershaw ('07 All-Star). Other Midwest League All-Stars over the years include Gary Gaetti, Shawon Dunston, Dave Stewart, Mike Scioscia, Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder.

The Cougars have a long-standing tradition of young baseball talent making its way through Kane County and upwards to big league stardom, with 112 Cougars alumni having reached the major leagues. Past Cougars big league All-Stars include Scott Podsednik, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Miguel Cabrera.
