ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Gulf Coast League today announced that Dante Bichette Jr., who hit .342 and led the league with 47 RBIs, 67 hits and 17 doubles has been named its Most Valuable Player. Bichette, who also excelled in the field for the Yankees by leading all third baseman with a .945 fielding percentage, headlines the 11-man Gulf Coast League All-Star Team.
Shortstop Jose Rosario and catcher Isaias Tejeda join Bichette from the league champion Yankees on the All-Star team. Carlos Mendoza, who skippered them to the GCL title, is the Manager of the Year.
Outfielder and batting champion Brandon Eckerle (.355) is one of two Tigers named to the team, along with first baseman Juaner Aguasvivas.
The Blue Jays also have a pair of players honored in second baseman Jorge Vega-Rosado and designated hitter Eric Arce, who paced the GCL with 14 home runs and 38 walks. Arce ranked second in the GCL with 40 RBIs and a .621 slugging percentage.
Raul Alcantara, who led the GCL with a 0.75 ERA, is the starting pitcher. The Red Sox right-hander also ranked first in WHIP (0.60) and batting average against (.147). Willy Paulino of the Cardinals, who led the league with a dozen saves, is the relief pitcher.

Manager of the Year: Carlos Mendoza, Yankees
