The Buffalo Bisons today announced that New York Mets' Hall of Fame pitcher TOM SEAVER will be the keynote speaker at the Triple-A All-Star Luncheon on Wednesday, July 11 at the Adam's Mark Hotel.
Along with his address at the luncheon, Seaver will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 25th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game that night at Coca-Cola Field. Seaver will also visit the MLB Network announcing crew during their nationally-televised broadcast of the game.
"We are honored that one of baseball's all-time greatest pitchers will join us as we come together and celebrate the future of our great game," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons.
Seaver was a three-time Cy Young award winner and one of the most dominate pitchers in Major League Baseball history. The righty was the face of the Mets franchise starting with his 1967 Rookie of the Year season, and finished his career first in Mets history in with 198 wins, a 2.57ERA and 2,541 strikeouts. A nine-time All-Star, Seaver won 25 games during the 1969 season to help the New York Mets to a World Series title. Seaver is also the only player in the Mets' franchise history to have his number (#41) retired by the team.
In 1992, Seaver was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame with a record 98.84% of the vote.
The All-Star Luncheon will also include the individual introduction of all 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game participants. The Adam's Mark Hotel has also donated free parking in their lot to luncheon attendance (while spaces last). Exact luncheon menu is to be announced.
