Sounds Keep Rolling In Spring, Win 8-5

PHOENIX -- Andy Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs to lead the undefeated Nashville Sounds to an 8-5 victory over the Sacramento River Cats (AAA-A's) on Tuesday afternoon at Papago Park Complex.

The Sounds (4-0 in spring play) rapped out 12 hits on the day, including five doubles. In addition to Gonzalez's stellar effort, second baseman Hainley Statia contributed a multiple-hit effort, going 2-for-5 with an RBI double, and veteran outfielder Jay Gibbons drove in a pair of runs with a double.

Eight of the nine Nashville starters recorded a hit on the day; first-sacker Sean Halton had the lone miss with an 0-for-4 showing.

Brewers top prospect Wily Peralta made the start and allowed two runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. He did not walk or strike out a batter.

Veteran right-hander Seth McClung followed with three innings of relief work, allowing one run on three hits with three K's. R.J. Seidel surrendered a pair of runs in two innings of action before Roque Mercedes closed out the game with two scoreless frames.

The Sounds (4-0) continue their spring slate on Wednesday with a home contest against the Louisville Bats (AAA-Reds) at Maryvale Baseball Park.
