Green leads River Cats' explosion 04/11/2012 2:42 AM ETBy Robert Emrich / Special to MLB.com
If hitting is contagious, then Grant Green has a fever. The Athletics' No. 6 prospect hit a grand slam and plated a career-high six runs as Triple-A Sacramento cruised to an 18-6 win over Tucson on Tuesday. Green got off to a rough start, fanning in his first two at-bats before launching his second homer of the season with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old outfielder added a two-run single and scored in the sixth. A first-round pick in 2009, Green entered play Tuesday batting .211 with two RBIs. He broke his previously established mark of five RBIs in a game, set on April 19, 2011, while playing for Midland. Green, originally a shortstop, moved to the outfield last season with the Double-A RockHounds. After a slow start in the Texas League, Green batted .291 with 62 RBIs and earned organizational All-Star honors. Jermaine Mitchell, the club's No. 16 prospect, was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored while Michael Taylor drove in three. Blake Tekotte, Tucson's leadoff batter, finished a homer shy of the cycle and scored twice for the Padres.
