Rehabbing Phillies All-Star Chase Utley hit a solo homer and singled in five at-bats as Lehigh Valley climbed into a first-place tie with a 10-3 thumping of Rochester. Jason Pridie went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples and fell a homer shy of the cycle for the IronPigs. Matt Carson was 3-for-4 for the Red Wings. Matt Zaleski allowed six hits over seven innings as Charlotte breezed to an 8-0 victory at Pawtucket. Hector Gimenez homered and drove in four runs, while Conor Jackson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Knights. Mauro Gomez and Pedro Ciriaco had two hits apiece for the PawSox, who've lost nine in a row. Russell Branyan delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning to give Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 3-1 win over Gwinnett, which has lost 11 straight. Corban Joseph went 3-for-3 with three doubles, a walk and a run scored, while D.J. Mitchell struck out six over seven innings for the Yankees. Todd Redmond also went seven for the Braves and allowed an unearned run on three hits. Daniel Dorn drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning to force in the go-ahead run as Louisville rallied past Buffalo, 5-3. Felix Perez was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run scored for the Bats, while Mets No. 14 prospect Matt den Dekker homered for the Bisons. Chad Huffman hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning as Columbus outlasted Norfolk, 4-3. Matt Pagnozzi chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Clippers, while the Tides got a solo homer from Brandon Waring. Jim Negrych's infield hit scored Corey Brown with the go-ahead run in the 11th inning as Syracuse ended Durham's season-high five-game winning streak, 3-2. Brown slugged a solo homer and scored twice for the Chiefs, while Rays No. 5 prospect Tim Beckham had an RBI single for the Bulls. Tigers top prospect Jacob Turner gave up two runs on six hits over six innings to win his third straight start as Toledo edged Indianapolis, 4-3. Matt Young went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Ryan Strieby drove in two runs for the Mud Hens. Pirates No. 12 prospect Rudy Owens had a personal four-game winning streak snapped after allowing three runs on five hits over six frames. Padres No. 4 prospect Jedd Gyorko went 4-for-5 with a homer, double and five RBIs to lead Tucson to a 9-8 triumph at Fresno. Daniel Robertson also had four hits and scored three times for the Padres, while Giants No. 10 prospect Conor Gillaspie drilled a two-run homer for the Grizzlies. Blue Jays No. 18 prospect Moises Sierra fell a triple shy of the cycle, drove in three runs and scored twice to help Las Vegas pull away for an 11-4 win over Sacramento. Eric Thames doubled twice and added four RBIs for the 51s, while Luke Hughes slugged a two-run homer and scored twice for the River Cats. Wade LeBlanc fanned seven and allowed two runs -- one earned -- on nine hits over seven innings in New Orleans' 6-4 win over visiting Memphis. Nick Green went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for the Zephyrs, while the Redbirds got three hits apiece from Cardinals No. 6 prospect Zack Cox and No. 8 prospect Matt Adams. Angels No. 18 prospect Luis Jimenez, Adam Heether and Ed Lucas homered to power Salt Lake to a 6-3 triumph over visiting Reno. Eric Hurley notched his seventh win, yielding three runs -- two earned -- on five hits over five innings. D-backs No. 6 prospect A.J. Pollock drove in two runs for the Aces. Matt Angle and Brian Cavazos-Galvez drove in two runs apiece to lead Albuquerque to a 7-3 win over visiting Nashville. Stephen Fife gave up three runs and scattered nine hits over five innings to win his third straight decision. Eric Farris went 3-for-4 for the Sounds. Chad Bell won his Triple-A debut, limiting Iowa to a run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings in Round Rock's 3-1 road victory. Yangervis Solarte had two hits, including an RBI single for the Express, while Juan Apodaca doubled twice for the Cubs. Royals No. 14 prospect Will Smith struck out seven over 7 2/3 innings in his first start in 10 days as Omaha shut down Oklahoma City, 5-1. David Lough delivered a two-run double in a three-run eighth that gave the Storm Chasers some breathing room. Brett Wallace was 3-for-4 for his second straight multi-hit game for the RedHawks. |
