51s Host Tucson in Five-Game Series from July 4-7!07/02/2012 3:57 PM ET

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team, in their 30th season as a member of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), and Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, return to Cashman Field for a brief five-game (four-day) homestand against the Tucson Padres, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, on Wednesday, July 4 at 7:05 p.m. The five-game series will conclude on Saturday, July 7 at 7:05 p.m. The Triple-A All-Star Break will then commence from Sunday-Wednesday, July 8-11.
The 51s, under manager Marty Brown, are currently 47-36 (.566) on the season and in third place in the Pacific Southern Division, 4.5 games behind the Sacramento River Cats (52-32, .619), Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. The Fresno Grizzlies are in second place in the most competitive PCL division in 2012, with a 48-35 (.578) record. The 51s will conclude their seven-game road trip tomorrow night in Reno, Nev., against intrastate rival, the Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Las Vegas is 41-21 (.661) over its last 62 games, since beginning the season with a 6-15 record.
Las Vegas is averaging 4,537 fans (195,085) through 43 home dates in the 2012 campaign. The season-high crowd was 11,465 vs. Salt Lake on May 7 and the second-largest crowd was 11,346 vs. Colorado Springs on June 15. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance in all 29 seasons (1983-2011) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 9,870,083. The 51s will welcome the 10-millionth fan at Cashman Field if the attendance reaches the 325,000 mark in 2012.
The opener of the five-game series on Wednesday will feature the traditional post-game "Fireworks Extravaganza," presented by KLAS TV-8 and iheartRadio and the fireworks show is sponsored by Bank of America. A pre-game Family Carnival will be held from 3-6 p.m. in the air-conditioned Cashman Center Convention Hall and will feature games, food and live music from local band Avalon Landing. The carnival is free with a purchase of a game ticket to the Padres-51s contest at 7:05 p.m. and all seats are priced at $14.00. In addition, Firework nights also feature "Flat Screens!" Five flat screen televisions will be given away to selected fans throughout the game.
The game marks only the second time in the 30-year history that Las Vegas has played at Cashman Field on Independence Day (July 4, 1986 vs. Albuquerque, A-11,598).
Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented in game two of the five-game series on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. KOMP 92.3 FM is the sponsor of Dollar Beer Nights. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.
51s Stars & Stripes T-Shirt Night, presented by metroPCS and Advanced Imaging Solutions, will be given away to the first 2,500 fans through the gates on Friday, July 6. The Padres-51s will play a double-header (two seven-inning games) beginning at 6:05 p.m. and the gates will open at 5 p.m.
The finale of the five-game series on Saturday, July 7 will feature Jersey Draw String Bag Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates (stadium gates open at 6 p.m.).
Sam's Club Family 4-Pack Night will be featured three times (Saturday, July 7, Saturday, July 21, Saturday, August 11) during the second-half of the season. The 4-Pack consists of: 4 tickets to the game; 4 hot dogs & 4 sodas; 4 Las Vegas 51s Hats. The ticket packages are priced at $48 (Reserved); $56 (Plaza) and $64 (Field). Tucson's roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly (No. 3) and infielder Jedd Gyorko (No. 6).
Tucson skipper Terry Kennedy returns for his third season and the 14-year Major League veteran was the Las Vegas 51s Manager in 2004.
The 51s broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at LV51.com. Russ Langer, the seven-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 13th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.
All 51s games will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via MiLB.com and LV51.com.
The 25th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be held on Wednesday, July 11 in Buffalo, N.Y. at Coca-Cola Field, home of the International League's Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. The game will be televised live on MLB Network at 4 p.m. (PDT) and available to subscribers live on MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball. The American Armed Forces Network will also showcase the event, bringing the game to the U.S. Armed Forces stationed outside the contiguous United States on U.S. military installations and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea. Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and right-handed pitcher Chad Beck will be Las Vegas' representatives in the game and Marty Brown will manage the PCL All-Stars.
Following the all-star break, the 51s will embark on a brief four-game road trip to Northern California to face division-rival, the Sacramento River Cats, in a four-game series from Thursday-Sunday, July 12-15.
Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug.
The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved), $13.00 (plaza) and $14.00 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the "Fireworks Extravaganza" on Wednesday, July 4 (all seats at $14.00).
