Little Rock, AR - The Springfield Cardinals used a three-run 5th and a four run 6th to clobber the Arkansas Travelers 10-1 in route to recording their franchise best 77th win of the season.

For the second straight day, the Cardinals struck for a first inning run. Kolten Wong reached on an error, Jermaine Curtis was hit by a pitch and both moved up a base on a ground out. With two out, Chris Swauger delivered an infield single to second base to plate Wong and give Springfield a 1-0 lead.

Scott Gorgen, making his first start with Springfield since July 17th, tossed a scoreless 1st before allowing a lead-off solo homer to Casey Haerther in the 2nd to tie the game 1-1. Gorgen did not allow another hit and retired 11 straight batters with eight total strikeouts over five innings of work.

The Cardinals would regain the lead in the 4th after Jamie Romak tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Swauger. Springfield added three more in the 5th on an Oscar Tavers RBI single and a two-run homer by Romak to stretch the lead to 5-1.

In the 6th, Springfield broke the game open with four runs on a bases loaded walk to Romak and a three-run double by Swauger to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Swauger added a sac-fly in the 8th to drive in his sixth run of the game.

Michael Wacha struck out the side in the 6th. Eric Fornataro tossed a scoreless 7th and Michael Blazek added a one-hit 8th before Keith Butler entered in the 9th and retired the side in order to seal the 10-1 win.

The Cardinals will conclude the regular season schedule in Little Rock against the Travelers tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. Boone Whiting will make the start for Springfield against Matt Oye for the Travs.
