Redbirds Release 2013 Promotional Calendar 01/23/2013 9:34 PM ETMemphis Redbirds
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds are excited to announce the action-packed promotional calendar for the 2013 season, including numerous fireworks extravaganzas, special appearances, the return of Friday block parties, an increased number of premium giveaways, and a comprehensive entertainment value in the Mid-South. The 72-game home schedule features 13 spectacular fireworks shows at AutoZone Park, including two on Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day, and every Saturday home game. Complete fireworks dates are as follows: April 6, April 20, May 11, May 25, May 26, June 8, June 22, June 29, July 4, July 6, July 20, August 3, and August 17. Again this season on Fridays, the popular end-of-the-week Block Parties will return to the plaza at AutoZone Park, offering live music and drink specials until game time. Gates will open two hours before first pitch. Concert artists will be released in the near future. Every Friday and other select nights at AutoZone Park, an expanded total of 18 giveaways are scheduled throughout the 2013 home slate, highlighted by five specialty T-Shirts, two novelty hats, a BBQ bobblehead, a Redbirds Homeplate Welcome Mat, and a replica 2006 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Championship Ring.
Memphis Redbirds Giveaway Schedule
The Redbirds will be wearing themed jerseys on two nights this season, and fans will have the opportunity to bid on that night's game-worn jerseys during a live postgame auction on the field. The Birds will wear camouflage jerseys while sporting hats of the United States Armed Forces on July 6, capped off by a special Salute to the Armed Forces fireworks presentation. Retro blue-and-white Memphis Chicks jerseys will be worn on on August 16 for Throwback Night while fans enjoy $.50 hot dogs and sodas. Among other highlighted ballpark promotions are Scout Night Campout (April 5), Business Person Matinee Special (May 14), Girl Scout campout (May 31), Sunday Brunch and a 0.0K "Race" (June 9), Summer Camp Day (June 13), Rockey the Redbird's Birthday Celebration (July 21), and Guaranteed Win Night (August 4). Traditional favorites will continue during the season at AutoZone Park. All fans can play catch on the field after the game on one Sunday each month. Education Days presented by MLGW highlight two special morning matinees (April 11 and May 8), which are attended by thousands of local students from Memphis-area schools. Daily, value-oriented promotions of note also fill the 2013 calendar, including the debut of Two-sdays, Wet Your Whistle Wednesdays presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon, Subway Eat Fresh Thursdays, Fred's Family Fridays, Signature Saturdays, and Kids Run the Bases Sundays presented by Tenn Dent and Shelby Co. Health. The Redbirds begin their 16th Pacific Coast League season on Thursday, April 4 at AutoZone Park when they welcome the visiting Oklahoma City RedHawks for Opening Night.
