On Saturday August 3rd the Arkansas Travelers and Awakening Events are proud to present "Travs Faith and Family Night 2013" featuring nationally known recording artist and American Idol Contestant Colton Dixon. This concert will be held following the scheduled 6:10pm game between the Arkansas Travelers and the Springfield Cardinals. The concert is free of charge with a paid admission to the Travelers game. Gates to the event open at 5:10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased ahead of the game online at or by calling (501) 664-1555.

Colton's musical journey has been a long time in the making, beginning with piano lessons at seven years old. He honed his early musical talent with lessons from his aunt and a family friend.   Colton remembers his first concert at the age of 13 performing "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe. That's when he knew he had found his calling.

As summer 2011 rolled around, Colton found himself at American Idol Season 11 auditions. Colton didn't know it, but he had been signed up for an audition with his sister Schyler. Although he was reluctant to audition after being rejected in previous seasons celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson convinced him to audition once more. This time he succeeded. An early fan favorite, and clearly a mature artist and musician at this point, Colton progressed through the competition. Colton's unique arrangements of timeless favorites, "Piano Man," "Time After Time," and current hit single "Love The Way You Lie" quickly earned him a loyal and enthusiastic fan following. Colton continued to amaze American Idol audiences, never placing in the bottom three until h is last week in the competition.

A shocking early elimination, Colton placed 7th in Season 11, but still continues to sell records at an astounding rate. Outselling the remaining contestants, Colton sold the second highest number of iTunes downloads, despite his early departure from the show. With a humble spirit, Colton answers the call to be a musician, a God-given talent, while recognizing he is a messenger for a purpose greater than himself. Colton recently signed a recording deal with EMI CMG Label Group/Sparrow Records and 19 Recordings. His first studio album A Messenger was released January 29, 2013 featuring singles "Never Gone" and "You Are".
