Cubs' Ballard named top FSL exec09/27/2013 11:36 AM ET
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Florida State League announced that former Daytona Cubs general manager Brady Ballard was named the 2013 FSL Executive of the Year. Ballard was named Vice President of Historic Dodgertown on Sept., 25, 2013.
Ballard was GM of the Cubs for four seasons and was an eight-year member of Daytona's front office. Under Ballard, the Cubs set a new per-game attendance record in 2013. Jackie Robinson Ballpark averaged 2,518 fans per game despite a weather-plagued season that included 14 cancelations.
"This award is a reflection of our entire staff," Ballard said. "I would like to thank them for all of their efforts throughout the year which was full of challenges, but successful nonetheless, as we attained a new per-game attendance record and another FSL Championship on the field."
Ballard was a FSL Marketing Committee member and spearheaded the league-wide Florida Lottery deal. Ballard was also an active member of the Daytona Beach community. He was VP of the Halifax Paws Society, the junior board for the Halifax Humane Society and worked with both the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association to plan and oversee numerous charitable events at Jackie Robinson Ballpark throughout the year.
